About Solve Post

Who we are

Award statuettes on a shelf

Solve Post is an audio post-production company serving studios, distributors and independent filmmakers. We mix, edit and localize sound for film and television, and help you prepare everything your project needs for distribution: FFME, 5.1 and Atmos upmixing, stem separation and music replacement, restoration, validation, conforms and QC.

The company is led by a multi-award-winning team: mixing engineer Alexander Verbitskiy and post-production supervisor Matthew Larson. Alexander’s select credits include score work on Minions and The Angry Birds Movie, the Emmy-winning score mix for Sonic Sea, and foreign-language mixes of Babylon Berlin, Fauda and the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist films. Matthew’s include Gordon Ramsay’s Secret Service, The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox, and foreign-language mixes of Mrs. America and What We Do in the Shadows.

Our global team works from California, Texas, Indiana, South Carolina, Germany and South Korea, connected through secure, access-controlled systems. Our follow-the-sun workflow keeps your project moving around the clock, with your media protected throughout the project.

How we work

Every project starts with a conversation. We are not in the business of assumptions, so we take the time to understand what your project needs and shape our approach around it. There is rarely only one solution for any project, and finding the right one is what Solve Post does best.

Post rarely goes exactly to plan, so when something comes up, we flag it right away and work out the best way forward together. You’ll always know where your project stands, and you can count on us to make the right call when it matters. Every delivery is checked before it leaves us, and if a date is at risk, you’ll know well in advance.

Studios come to us for precision and capacity on deliverables. Filmmakers come to us for a team that cares about their film as much as they do. We want every project to go smoother than you expected. Fewer surprises. Fewer rejections. And when the next one comes along, we want to be your first call.

Why we started

Every project that reaches us carries someone’s work and someone’s deadline. A filmmaker has a vision for how the film should sound and needs someone who hears the intent behind their notes. Studios and distributors have deliveries that must land on spec and on time, and need a team who can help them put the puzzle together.

Over our years in post, we kept running into the same problems across the industry: departments that rarely talked to each other, work that sat in queues before reaching the people doing it, and schedules so tight that details slipped through the cracks. Good work still got done, but often with more effort than it needed. We knew there had to be a better way.

Alexander Verbitskiy

Co-founder · Mixing engineer

Alexander Verbitskiy wears many hats, often all at once: sound designer, mixing engineer, technical consultant and workflow designer for other studios. Above all, he is a tinkerer at heart. He starts every project by understanding where it needs to end up, then works out the most straightforward path there. That drive for continuous improvement has shaped years of workflow design and innovation, and today it guides both how we work at Solve Post and the tools we build at Solve Post Labs.

Matthew Larson on set

Matthew Larson

Co-founder · Post-production supervisor

Matthew Larson came to post from the set. As a production sound mixer on high-end shoots, he learned to stay sharp under pressure. His projects kept pulling him into post, where he became a dialogue editor, re-recording mixer and supervisor, often mixing alongside Alexander as a two-person team. He knows exactly where film sound begins and where it lands. With that view of the whole chain and a natural talent for organization and communication, he can map out any project, first-run or legacy, and make sure nothing gets missed.

The team during a mix session

How it came together

We have worked together in different roles since the mid-2010s. Sometimes Matthew hired Alexander as a sound designer. Sometimes Alexander brought Matthew in to run the show. Each time, working together freed each of us to focus on what mattered most to our clients. Along the way, we met talented editors and operators whose work we came to trust completely. Over time, that circle naturally evolved into Solve Post.

We call it organized agility.

Our team communicates with one another and with you, work moves without waiting in a queue, and details are caught early. We are flexible enough to take on any project and work out what it takes to reach the finish line, and organized enough to make sure it gets there. Clients come back because we deliver and keep them informed from start to finish, and many have become close friends. That is by design: a project goes better when people trust each other and talk openly.
